OUR STORY

Merve Swim was named after Mermaid Cove, a beautiful dive site that from a birds-eye view forms the shape of a mermaid's tail. The stretch of coastline around Muscat, Oman is an untouched, diving paradise. The ocean here is diverse and unusual, from crystal clear shallows to glowing emerald greens to deep blues, everyone feels the magic of the unique Arabian Sea.

Muscat is my hometown and I spent my childhood falling in love with the ocean. It breaks my heart to see how polluted our world has become, and so sustainability is at the heart of all operations at Merve.

Our swimwear is made from recycled ocean waste such as fishing nets, among other waste, and our prints are created with eco-friendly dyes. We donate 1% of our profits to non-profit environmental organisations and rotate organisations each year. We have also partnered with Tree Nation to offset our carbon footprint, and we proudly plant a tree with every product sold. Additional trees are also planted to offset emissions from our net-zero website.

I don't just want to create a sustainable brand, I want to create an autonomous community that protects the environment, is hungry for knowledge and self-development, and celebrates the creativity of artists and photographers who capture the beauty of our world. I want to support the art that is sustainable fashion and encourage other brands to change their operations to be more environmentally friendly, too.

Turning waste into something beautiful is the pride and joy of what we do and I want anyone who puts on our swimwear to feel empowered by that. I want to inspire women to feel beautiful and comfortable in their own skin because as long as they love themselves, nothing else matters.

Mother nature deserves to be treated with love and respect, and without her, we wouldn't be here at all. So, our mission is cleaning up our oceans, one bikini at a time...

Love Mia,

Founder, Merve Swim.
